MECCO Debuts at Automation Fair

0
Automation Fair 2014

The Automation Fair from Rockwell Automation is taking place in Anaheim, CA on November 19th-20th. The conference is focused on showing how “The Connected Enterprise can help you achieve faster time to market, optimize your assets, lower your total cost of ownership and improve enterprise risk.”

As a new Encompass Partner, MECCO will be exhibiting for the first time at Automation Fair this year, demonstrating our Encompass Program referenced products in booth 1133.

Traceability for the EtherNet/IP Connected Enterprise

MECCO’s EtherMark product has made the integration of laser and dot peen marking systems much simpler, allowing for the same easy connectivity with Allen-Bradley PLC’s that you can expect from other factory equipment.

To demonstrate this, MECCO has engineered a production cell demo that showcases the traceability process. The entire system is controlled via EtherNet/IP: the robot, doors, cameras, sensors, and the laser marking system.

Within this cell, information can be entered via an HMI to mark onto a part. A completely automated process takes over, where the part is marked by the MeccoMark Fiber laser system. Upon completion, the doors to the Class I laser-safe enclosure open so that a robot can remove and transport it to vision stations where cameras read and verify the mark. Based on the vision results, the system can deposit the finished part into a ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ bin. The bottom of the bin has sensors that can verify the presence of a newly completed part, and therefore tally up the number of parts to come through, making results reporting a much easier process.

We leverage the power of Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalk to collect the traceability information and store it in a database.

MECCO also has a virtual presentation in Rockwell’s Industrial  IP Advantage, booth 758. This booth offers the opportunity to learn how the Internet Protocol is the future of industrial network connectivity.
